Youth Program

The youth program is the heart of our organization. We seek to provide world-class training to youth in Barelas and other low-income communities. Our goal is to provide an artistic community in which youth feel a sense of belonging, leadership, and connection. We do this through providing personal, small classes with world-class Flamenco artists and give opportunities for youth to perform in professional settings at a pre-professional and professional level. Students who graduate from the youth program are invited to the professional track and are offered positions to perform alongside Jesús Muñoz Flamenco and other professional Flamenco companies.

(Ages 3-5) This class is based in creative movement practices and is designed to get toddlers excited about dancing and music. Toddlers are exposed to flamenco music as well as footwork and upper body movements through games and creative play. Toddlers will grow coordination skills and build a positive relationship to Flamenco and dance.

Saturday 9:30-10:15

Kids and Teens

Kids (Ages 6-12) and Teens (Ages 13-16): We offer 2 separate classes based on age that follow the same curriculum. In this class, students will learn the five sounds of flamenco footwork and will gain a foundation in flamenco body movement as well as rhythms. Children will learn how to dance por tangos and how to begin to communicate within flamenco. As the year progresses they will have the tools to engage in more complex rhythms and palos. Kids in this class are also encouraged to take the Palmas class. All students are invited to perform in a Winter Recital as well as have other performance opportunities throughout the year.

Kids: Monday, Wednesday 5:30-6:30pm

Teens: Monday, Wednesday 6:30-7:30pm
