ABOUT ZAMBOMBA FLAMENCA:

A Zambomba Flamenca is a traditional Spanish Christmas celebration, particularly popular in Andalucia, that blends the festive spirit of Christmas with flamenco music and dance. It is a communal gathering where people sing "villancicos" (Christmas carols) with a flamenco style, accompanied by instruments like the zambomba (a friction drum), tambourines, and guitars. These events, often held in public squares, courtyards, or local bars, are known for their joyful, participatory atmosphere and feature local food, drink, and dancing.

Experience the next generation of Flamenco artists as they take the stage with passion, talent, and energy.

¡TABLAO! April 202

¡TABLAO! is an intimate evening of music and dance in the deep tradition of por derecho experienced on an intimate tablao stage.

About this event

A tablao (colloquial term for the Spanish “tablado”, floorboard) is a place where flamenco shows were performed and developed during the sixties of the 20th century throughout Spain replacing the “cafés cantantes” (cabarets). “There is nothing like experiencing Flamenco on this level, face to face with fierce performers (dancers, singer and guitarist) and the vibrations of the floor underneath you. This is how one’s first Flamenco experience was meant to be.”- says Jesus Muñoz, Dancer/Director at Flamenco Works. The tablao is performed through the Por Derecho style which is a branch of Flamenco that is personal, improvisational, and holds a profound understanding of Canté (Flamenco Song). The raw emotion, physical vigor, and unique energy of each tablao keeps audience members returning night after night. ¡TABLAO! is embodied by the feeling of inclusion, community, and interaction. Guests are encouraged to be curious, and to have huge bursts of inspiration--resulting in a big Ole!!!!
