Summer Camp
Summer Camp June 1-26, 2026
Flamenco Works andCasa Barelas are two grassroots, community non-profits providing arts and cultural programs for families and youth in Downtown and Barelas. This summer, they are teaming up to bring your child a rich and engaging experience. We are offering two camps; one for experienced Flamenco dancers and the other for children who are just being introduced to the arts. All classes are led by master artists and instructors.
Both camps will culminate with a free-to-the-public performance at the KiMo Theatre, showcasing what the children have learned along with a youth market at the theatre featuring arts and crafts the kids made.
CAMP 1: CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS (Ages 5-12)
Your child will be introduced to dance forms such as Flamenco, Baile Folklorico and tap. They will learn to sing their favorite Rancheras while learning guitar, build their own cajon and learn to play percussion. They will study with local artists sewing, develop drawing and painting skills, and learn cultural-based crafts.
CAMP 2: FLAMENCO INTENSIVE (Ages 7-18)
For dancers already studying Flamenco. Children and adolescents will take intensive dance classes in the mornings. In the afternoon, students will engage in other art and music activities, overlapping with students in the Creative Expressions Camp. If you are unsure if this is the right level for you, contact us!

About Off-Campus Walks:
“Campus” refers to either Flamenco Works or Casa Barelas. During lunch/recess period, we will be walking to a nearby park such as Civic Plaza or Barelas Community Center. During the walk, young children will be paired with an older student as their walking partner. Students will walk in two lines with adults surrounding the group. The ratio of kids to adults is approximately 7:1. We will carry lunch boxes, water, first-aid kits, etc. in a wagon that will come with us. The same process will happen when we walk from Flamenco Works to Casa Barelas on Wednesday and Friday. When at the park or walking, students will stay together as a group at all times. If you have any questions or concerns about off-campus activities and going off campus, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Is lunch provided?
Lunch is NOT provided. We will provide a healthy snack for students in the morning. Students will be asked to pack a lunch each day. This is an intense day for campers with a lot of movement and energy and so please pack a nutritional lunch that will give them energy for the day.
